Team Preview: Triple Threat

This team formed in a way I genuinely appreciate: three guys who played D2 in MBL chose to take on the challenge of a D1 league.

Ahmed Ali, former MBL ROY, is a capable scorer who can get buckets in a hurry. Yaseen ElMeligy is a high-IQ, do-it-all player who impacts the game everywhere. And Besart Islami is a true sniper with unlimited range. I’m proud of all three for knowing they’re capable of more, and they did a great job filling out the rest of this roster.

DJ Shumpert (former Drew League DPOY) is the definition of a Swiss Army knife. He can do it all and looks like one of the most dominant players in the league. Roman Hashemi is a load inside: a legit big who can score, rebound, and protect the rim. Anthony Kidd brings that old-school wing game—midrange, creation, finishing, and defense—with great size and length. Idress Safi is a cerebral point guard who can pass first, but score when the moment calls for it. He plays slow, but sneaky quick. And David Bagga, aka Corporate Buckets... one of my favorite (and funniest) humans ever, and honestly one of the best shooters I’ve seen.

When they all show up? This team is going to be must-watch.
